Texta – a lightweight markdown editor for macOS!

A markdown editor that minds its own business.

Texta is a lightweight markdown editor for macOS, built by one person who just wanted a nicer place to write.

So here we are.

Clean interface. Content first!

No nonsense

No accounts. No sync drama. No “AI writing assistant” trying to finish your sentences.

Just you, your thoughts, and a calm place to put them.

Fast, because it should be

Open files instantly. Jump between documents without thinking about it.
Autosave quietly does its job so you don’t have to.

Texta looks great in dark mode!

Your notes, but smarter

Link documents together with backlinks and slowly build your own little knowledge universe.

Or just write a grocery list. That works too.

Power, without the ceremony

There’s a command palette for when you want to move fast.
A slide-in markdown cheat sheet for when your brain blanks on syntax.

The Command Palette at your service.
File view and a helpful cheat sheet – just a swipe away.

Built on purpose

Texta isn’t trying to be the next “all-in-one productivity system.”

It’s just a small, focused tool that does one thing well:
helping you write without getting in the way.

Private by design

Texta doesn’t collect data.
It doesn’t phone home.
It doesn’t need an internet connection to work.

Everything stays on your Mac — where it belongs.

Download Texta. It won’t change your life. But it might make writing a little nicer. Also, it’s completely free!

No magic, no guarantees

Texta does its best to keep your writing safe — but it’s still just software.
Use it at your own risk. The developer can’t be held responsible for lost data, corrupted files, or anything else that might go sideways.
